What is match play?
Match play is a format in golf where players compete hole-by-hole rather than counting total strokes over the entire round. The goal is to win as many holes as possible to defeat your opponent(s).
When and where is the tournament held?
Each round through the knock-out stages will take place at a course chosen by the 2 drawn players. They will book and pay for their round. The final 4 competitors will be flown at MILLION DOLLAR ROUND’s expense (including accommodation) for 3 nights to compete in the semi-final, final and 3rd and 4th place play-off rounds.
How do I register for the tournament?
Registration details can be found on this website on the sign-up page. Simply complete the registration form with the required information and submit.
What happens after registration?
Within 72 hours of submitting your registration to compete in the People’s Tournament, you will receive an e-mail confirming your place in the tournament, and providing you with your competitor ID number.
When do I have to pay my Tournament Competitor Fee?
You must pay your Tournament Competitor fee as soon as you receive your Competitor ID number and confirmation of your tournament placement, which will be included in the email sent after you submit the registration form.
How do I pay my Tournament Competitor Fee?
To pay your Competitor Fee, you will connect to your own banking app, and select the Zelle payment option. You will enter signup@themilliondollarround.com as the recipient, and under the payment reference message, enter your competitor i/d number, followed by MT or WT, which indicates whether you are entering the men’s or women’s Tournament.
What are the categories of competition?
Men’s and Women’s category. All players must be over 18 years of age.
Who is eligible to compete in the People’s Tournament?
All amateur golfers, 18 years of age or older. No professional golfers are eligible to play or compete in the people’s tournament.
How is handicap applied in match play?
Handicap allowances may be used to adjust the number of strokes given or received based on each player's handicap index. This ensures fair competition across different skill levels. You must have a USGA handicap in order for strokes to apply. If you do not have a USGA handicap, you are welcome to compete in the People’s Tournament, but you will be unable to recive strokes. We encourage any competitors who do not have USGA handicaps to register with USGA as soon as possible in order to establish their handicap.
What is the tournament format?
The tournament format will be 18-hole, 1-round matchplay, knockout tournament. Players will compete head-to-head, with winners advancing to subsequent rounds until a champion is crowned.
What happens in case of inclement weather or unforeseen personal circumstances making it impossible for 1 or both players to complete their match within the 21-day window?
In the event of inclement weather effecting play, players will reschedule their match to take place at a later date within the originally allocated 21-day window. In the event that 1 player is unable to play their match, they will forfeit the round to their opponent who will automatically move forward to the next round. If neither player is able to play the round within the allocated timeframe, both players will be eliminated from the tournament.
Are caddies allowed during the tournament?
Yes, participants are allowed to have caddies. Caddies must adhere to tournament rules and etiquette, including player conduct and assistance on the course.
Can I withdraw from the tournament after registering?
No. Withdrawal by a player, regardless of reason for withdrawal, will result in forfeiture and their opponent progressing to the next round.
Can the People’s Tournament be cancelled prior to the start date?
Yes, Million Dollar Round LLC will have the option to cancel the Tournament prior to the start date. In that eventuality, all competitors will receive a full refund with 48 hours of cancellation.
What prizes are awarded to winners?
The winner will receive a first prize of $1 Million. The runner-up will receive a second prize of $350,000. The 3rd placed player will receive a prize of $175,000. The fourth placed player will receive a prize of $100,000. All prize winners will be given a 1099-MISC form for reporting their prize winnings. A copy of this will also be sent to the IRS.
Can spectators attend the tournament?
Yes, spectators are encouraged to attend the Final 2-day event only. Spectator attendance of matches played during the knock-out rounds is not permitted, and will result in disqualification.

What equipment do I need to bring for the tournament?
Participants are required to bring their own golf clubs, golf balls, tees, and any other personal golf equipment. Ensure your equipment complies with tournament rules and regulations.
Are there specific dress code requirements for the tournament?
Yes, participants must adhere to the hosting golf course’s dress code.
Will there be practice rounds available before the tournament?
Players will be free to make their own practice arrangements.
How are tiebreakers handled in match play tournaments?
In the event of a tied match after 18 holes, a sudden death playoff may be played to determine the winner. The first player to win a hole outright wins the match. Please see rules page regarding process when no tee times available for a play-off.
Can I request a specific tee time for my matches?
Tee times for each match will be determined by both players scheduling their match.
Is there a limit to the number of participants in the tournament?
The tournament will have a maximum capacity for participants. Early registration is recommended to secure your spot in the competition.
Are there rules regarding player conduct and etiquette during matches?
Participants are expected to adhere to the highest standards of sportsmanship and golf etiquette throughout the tournament.
How can I sponsor or support the tournament as a business or individual?
Information regarding sponsorship opportunities or ways to support the tournament can be obtained from Million Dollar Round LLC directly.
Can I bring my family or children to watch the tournament?
Yes, but only to the final 2-day event.
Are there accommodations available for participants traveling from out of town?
Only for the 2-day final event. During the knock-out rounds, any travel & accommodation that may be required will be at each player’s own expense.
